§ 02 / ABOUT
Six encoding modes, one scanner.
A QR code is a 2D barcode that encodes text. Any phone camera can read it and hand the decoded string to an app — usually the OS, which routes URLs to the browser, tel: to the dialer, WIFI: to the network settings, and so on. This tool generates six structured formats plus raw text.
// WHAT YOU CAN ENCODE
- URL — the most common. Business cards, menus, Wi-Fi handoff.
- Text — arbitrary strings, no URL framing.
- Wi-Fi — SSID + password + encryption → guests join instantly.
- Email — pre-fills the To/Subject/Body when scanned.
- SMS — opens the messenger with a prefilled recipient and body.
- vCard — contact info that drops directly into the phone's address book.
// ERROR CORRECTION
QR codes embed redundancy so they still scan through smudges, glare, or partial occlusion. Four levels: L (7%), M (15%), Q (25%), H (30%). Higher levels produce denser patterns. For printed materials at small sizes, use M or Q. For codes covered by a logo, use H.

§ 02 / FAQ
Questions. Answered.
What can I encode as a QR code?+
Anything text-based up to a few thousand characters: URLs, plain text, Wi-Fi network credentials, vCards (contact cards), email templates, SMS templates, Bitcoin/Lightning addresses, calendar events. Use the QUICK PRESETS row to seed common formats.
How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?+
Click the WIFI preset, then edit the template to replace NETWORK_NAME with your SSID and PASSWORD with your password. Change T:WPA to T:WEP for WEP networks, or T:nopass for open networks. Phones that scan the code will offer to join the network.
What's the difference between error correction levels?+
Higher correction levels add redundancy so the code still scans when partially obscured or damaged. L (~7% recoverable) gives the densest code; H (~30% recoverable) gives the most tolerant code. For printed codes that might get scratched or partially covered, use Q or H. For digital-only use, L or M is fine.
Does my data go to a server?+
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere — important for Wi-Fi passwords, contact info, or anything else you don't want leaking.
Can I save or share the QR?+
Yes. Download as PNG or SVG, or copy either to the clipboard. The URL also updates as you type, so you can share the URL and anyone who opens it gets the same QR regenerated.
What size should I use?+
For printing, use L or XL so the code stays crisp. For on-screen use, M is plenty. SVG scales cleanly to any size — prefer it over PNG when you can.
