§ 02 / ABOUT
What an anagram really is.
An anagram uses every letter of a word exactly once, rearranged. "LISTEN" → "SILENT". "ASTRONOMER" → "MOON STARER". This solver returns every dictionary word of the same length as your input that can be formed from those letters.
// ANAGRAM VS UNSCRAMBLE
- Anagram — same length, every letter used. Stricter, fewer results.
- Unscramble — any length, subset of letters. Broader, many results per rack.
- Both share the wordlist — ENABLE, 173,122 public-domain English words.
// WHY IT'S FAST
Every word in the dictionary is pre-indexed by its sorted letters — so "LISTEN" and "SILENT" both map to the key "EILNST". Looking up an anagram is a single hash lookup, not a search. Even with 173k words, queries finish in under 50ms.

§ 02 / FAQ
Questions. Answered.
What is an anagram?+
An anagram is a word formed by rearranging every letter of another word. LISTEN and SILENT are anagrams. Both use the exact same six letters.
How is this different from the Word Unscrambler?+
The Anagram Solver only returns words that use every letter you typed. The Word Unscrambler returns every valid word that can be formed from any subset of your letters — so a 7-letter rack returns 7-, 6-, 5-, 4-, 3-, and 2-letter words.
Can I use blank tiles?+
Yes — type ? for any blank. CAT? returns 4-letter anagrams of those four characters with one wildcard letter, like CAST, CATS, CART, and ACTS.
Why are some words missing?+
We use the public-domain ENABLE dictionary (~173K words). Some valid Scrabble words licensed under TWL or SOWPODS aren't included. Most common anagrams will be there.
Are points the same as the Unscrambler?+
Yes — standard Scrabble letter values (A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T, R = 1; D, G = 2; B, C, M, P = 3; F, H, V, W, Y = 4; K = 5; J, X = 8; Q, Z = 10). Bonus squares aren't factored in.
